Los Angeles, CA – The BookFest® salutes the winners of the first BookFest Awards. The winners, announced at its 5th biannual virtual event, demonstrate excellence in the literary arts. The BookFest Awards honors writers who create outstanding works of fiction and nonfiction and is proud to salute the award-winning books and authors.
Desireé Duffy, Founder of The BookFest, says, “We’re blown away by all the wonderful submissions in the first biannual BookFest Awards. There were 364 books submitted for consideration. Books are judged using an array of criteria to evaluate story, message, genre, theme, and aesthetics. Awards are bestowed based on genre and subgenre, as well as other categories such as best cover art and best website. There are four levels of awards including first place, second place, third place and honorable mention.

Books submitted for consideration to The BookFest Awards are evaluated with a three-round judging system: first by an expert vetting team to ensure submitted work meets necessary criteria, then by The BookFest associate judging committee, and then final determinations are made by the executive BookFest Awards judging committee: Elaine Ash, Celeste S. Duckworth, Flo Selfman, and Elliott Wolf.

The inaugural BookFest Awards also salutes Industry icon Irwin Zucker, Founder of the Book Publicists of SoCal and President of Promotion in Motion Public Relations, who received the first Honorary Achievement Award.
