SOLAR RECOVERY CORPORATION TECHNOLOGY
Solar Recovery Corporation (SRC) an Australian owned organisation has partnered with La Mia Energia (LME), a European technology company that has been recovering end-of-life (EOL) solar panels over the past 10 years. This circular economy technology has been specifically designed and built to recover high quality materials from EOL solar panels and has proven history across Europe.
SRC has invested to transition this world leading clean technology, together with LME’s intellectual property, policy understanding and experience to Australia to provide a world-leading service for recovery of EOL solar panels. The technology recovers materials from all types of solar panels without the use of chemicals, thermal processing, or pyrolysis.
The patented clean technology recovers 99+% from the end-of-life solar photovoltaic panels, resulting in zero landfill from the SRC process for each panel.
MATERIAL RECOVERY
SRC has appointed senior environment and sustainability advocate Rob Gell to chair the inaugural Advisory Board for Australasia.
“Beyond recycling, materials recovery, product stewardship and Extended Producer Responsibility are the new order.’’ Mr Gell said:
“We cannot afford to dispose of valuable materials that can be revalued and repurposed, ideally into new solar panels, through the adoption of leading technology such as this.“
SRC provides a complete transparent solution for the renewable energy sector.
The high quality recovered materials will then be available for repurpose into a range of manufacturing streams reducing Co2 emissions, reducing the need for virgin minerals, and providing a circular economy solution for end-of-life solar PV panels across Australia.
Rob Gell is committed to oversee the expansion of the first two sites in Queensland. SRC will be operational by March 2022 in Biloela and Townsville, Queensland, followed by a national expansion within the next 24 months.
PARTNERSHIP
SRC and LME are joining forces with a shared vision of a M&A to combine technology, experience and operational knowledge across Australia and New Zealand securing leading edge patented clean technologies for the Australasian market.
SRC processing facilities will create employment opportunities and support business growth within the regional communities.
SRC will further enhance and create legacies within these regions inclusive of education and on the job training in this new industry sector.
Francescantonio (Frank) Della Rosa, Managing Director of LME, will be joining the SRC team to kick-off the first PV Recycling Plants and to oversee the scalability and replicability of the company’s successful European business model here in Australia. Frank’s knowledge and experience will be invaluable to the SRC team and the business.
Frank co-founded the international engineering division of LME with Mr. Renato Reggi, founder of the first Italian Consortium and Collective Scheme for EOL PV panels and has many years of experience in the Technology Research & Development sector. His credentials include PhD, Dr. Tech and many international awards in the technology and business sectors.
Our first PV Recycling Plant is expected to arrive in Australia mid-April 2022. The arrival of LME’s team of engineers will ensure a smooth transition for the Australian market. The technology will solve Australia’s growing solar panel waste problem by diverting EOL solar panels from landfill and support the solar PV panel industry to keep clean energy clean.
