The team at the Meta Tea House, led by the passionate, forward-thinking artist, Jade Katz, has reiterated their commitment to telling the story of the importance of a support system, with the recent partnership with the Tech by Choice community. CommunitTea is collaborating with Tech by Choice, a non-profit focused on assisting people to enter into any role in the tech industry and close any existing wage gaps, to highlight the project’s movement for diversity in all tech areas.
“I went from being a struggling art student who had no clear direction of how I would provide for myself after college to someone who is now able to support myself and my family. It took a lot of time and frustration but I was able to find my own path as a developer thanks to the supportive community I created for myself. Through their events, I was able to meet people who believed in and supported my goal of breaking into tech as an artist. Now that I’m starting a new path in the web 3 space, my first big splash in this space is telling the story of how I got here. Being around a diverse community of people who found ways to support and protect each other while we grow and navigate this space that wasn’t designed for us,” said Jade Katz.
ComnuniTea offers 3,333 hand-drawn generative pieces, with the goal of bringing a human feel to the PFP projects on the Solana blockchain, with The Meta Tea House being intentional with the energy used by diverting surplus to making tea and hug trees. The project is personal and brings to bear the struggles of individuals looking for a place in the tech world.
The Tech by Choice – ComnuniTea collaboration will undoubtedly chart a new course in the tech world as well as other aspects of life. In a related development, 10% of ALL SALES will go to Tech by Choice to help support the organization’s quest of turning into a DAO. It will also assist the community-driven nonprofit to help marginalized adults enter, stay, and thrive in tech as well as offer mental health and financial literacy content to the community.
There are several benefits to being a part of the ComnuniTea project, with first-time holders receiving a physical mug, Mental Health Coloring Book, and airdrop impact updates. Other benefits of owning the NFT include a lifetime ticket to TBC’s Galas, funding the Black Tax Fund, and access to the TBC community as a membership at a supporter level. The decision to partner with TBC is not surprising as the non-profit founded by Valerie Phoenix in 2018 to build a space that gave back to the community has expanded to three chapters, in Los Angeles, Oakland, and the DMV, hosting over 40 events that supported over 1,800 members.
